One of the most famous lamps in the entire history of Italian design. The initial idea was sketched by Pio Manzù (who passed away in 1969) who had imagined a cylindrical body that ran along a rod stopped at the desired height by means of a screw. Subsequently Castiglioni will replace the rod with a metal cable which anchored to the floor and ceiling allowed the cylinder to be locked through the friction due to an appropriate deviation. This system is perfected with a tensioner and a shaped steel tube which allows the vertical movement of the lighting body by sliding on a steel cable stretched between the ceiling and the floor by a cylindrical counterweight. It won the 11th edition of the Compasso d´Oro in 1979 and is currently on display at the Design Museum of the Milan Triennale. Chromed tubular structure and Elastomer lamp holder support. Round pushbutton switch, electrical flat cable and turnbuckle with split pins. Designer: A. Castiglioni / P. Manzù 1971 Dimensions: Rose Ø6.5 Base Ø11cm Lamp body 58cm Bulb: E27 R125 HALO or LED Excellent aesthetic and functional conditions.
